Wildcroft

Stair lantern

Location: Bristol
Status: Complete

A generous sense of arrival, lots of natural light, an extra bedroom and an open but separable relationship between the living and dining areas was the brief for this remodelling and two storey side extension project in Redland, Bristol.

A series of roof windows in the main and lower side roofs pull natural light in from both the front and back of the house (North and South respectively) flooding the entrance hall, stairwell and upper landing with light.

A sense of play was brought to bear with the exposure of the existing roof truss timbers, smoothed down and painted black, in a new lantern over the main stairwell. An open plan kitchen, bathroom and service area occupy the ground floor of the side extension with a new master bedroom and ensuite above.
